THE [14th] EARL OF STRATHMORE AND KINGHORNE, Viscount Lyon, Lord Glamis, Tannadyce, Sidlaw and Strathdichtie, Baron Bowes of Streatlam Castle, Co Durham, and of Lunedale, Co York, and Chief of the Name and Arms of Lyon born 22 September 1884, the eldest son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.

Patrick succeeded his father as the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne in 1944 and held the title until his death 25th May 1949.

21 November 1908 Patrick married Lady Dorothy Beatrix Godolphin Osborne, daughter of Sir George Godolphin Osborne, 10th Duke of Leeds and Lady Katherine Frances Lambton
Patrick and Dorothy had four children:

  • John Patrick Bowes-Lyon (born 1 Jan 1910 died 19 Sep 1941)
  • Cecilia Bowes-Lyon (born 28 Feb 1912 died 1 Jan 1960) married Major Kenneth Harington (no children)
  • Timothy Patrick Bowes-Lyon (born 18 Mar 1918 died c 1972)
  • Nancy Moira Bowes-Lyon (born 18 Mar 1918 died 11 Feb 1959) married, firstly, Lance Percy Burra-Robinson two sons: Christopher Patrick 6 August 1941 Simon Lance 5 August 1945 secondly, John Blair (no children)
